Our News...

We are really looking forward to our second Christmas at Gusto and the shop is stocked full of Italian Christmas goodies and books. Our chefs are also very busy preparing seasonal food for the shop floor, caffé and private parties. New to the shop are a range of truffle products, cantucci biscuits with candied orange, chocolate and almond and pistachio and walnut, Sfoiade al burro (Christmas butter biscuits), award-winning Nudo oils including an adopt an olive tree kit (ideal for the person with everything), the latest Mr and Mrs Smith hotel book (in which Gusto features) and ‘Daily Italian’ by Toby Puttock a fabulous and very practical cookery book. Back by popular demand is our soft Panforte which sold out last year and our range of stylish and high quality Panettone.

We are already taking hamper orders, which are available in traditional wicker hampers or more contemporary boxes in either brown or burgundy tied with ribbon. The hampers are made up to order to suit individual tastes and budgets. We are very happy to arrange delivery.

Our vouchers also make ideal gifts. They are credit card style, presented in a stylish gift card and available in £10, £25 and £50 denominations.

If you would like us to quote for any parties, either kitchen suppers or larger drinks parties we would be delighted. We can either provide food for you to re-heat and serve or we can offer the full service including staff. Just call Gavin or Rachel to discuss.

We have extended our opening hours over the festive period and will be staying open until 8pm every Thursday and from 10am–4pm each Sunday including Christmas Eve. The Caffe will also be open on Sundays for informal breakfast and lunch. Gusto will close on Christmas Eve and re-open on Monday 7th January.

Dates for Your Diary...

We are delighted to be hosting an exhibition of photographs entitled ‘Road to Rome’ by internationally known travel photographer John Heseltine in our caffe. The photographs are all featured in a hard-back book of the same name available in the shop to purchase for £35. A lifelong love affair with Italy prompted John to create his own visual record of a unique series of journeys made along five of the ancient Roman roads. The result is a collection of 80 stunning photographs, some of which are on display now in the caffe and available to buy.

John will be joining us on Thursday 6th December from 5-8pm to talk about his journeys and what inspired his photographs. He will be happy to autograph books. Please join us for drinks and light bites in the caffe.

Montpellier will be buzzing with festive cheer on Thursday 13th December for our second late night shopping evening. The evening will be opened by Gloucester rugby favourite and England international James Simpson-Daniel (featured in this months Cotswold Life). Music through the evening will be provided by The Salvation Army, Tewkesbury Town Brass Band, Menoah (covers-band playing popular music) and Gipsy Fire (guitar jazz band). Father Christmas will be popping in, and there will be a children’s merry go round. There will also be a Santa Lucia (Swedish Fesitval of Lights) walking around as well as many other attractions. We do hope you will support this event. We will be hosting a wine tasting by one of our wine suppliers through the evening and there will be lots of goodies to taste. Caffe Gusto will also be open in the evening for supper.

We will be hosting two more supper evenings in January in the caffe with a wine tasting and a talk from one of our Italian suppliers. Look out for the flier for this in the shop.

Thank you to all of you who attended the Italian lessons on Wednesday evenings in our caffe. It was a huge success and we will be organising a follow-up set of lessons in January/February. More details to follow.

A huge thank you to all our regular customers for your support and enthusiasm.

With our warmest wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo!
